  • Batch Capture: What am I doing wrong?

    Hello,

I have a master clip that got deleted. The subclips and the clip is still in the bin, its just offline. I am trying to get it back by batch capturing.

So I batch capture the clip and when it reaches the end of the tape it starts over and captures again. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

Is it capturing the clip or searching for the specific time-code of the clip? If it is actually doing the capturing, then i would try re-logging it and doing another batch capture on the new clip. However, if it is seeking for the timecode in, i’m not sure…

    Hope it helps!

    Cheers!

    Hello,

It finds the in point and the out point of the clip and begins the capture….It just never stops.

I will fool around with it later today.

    Thanks alot.

Here’s a few dummy checks that have flummoxed me in the past:

    1. Make sure you have the correct tape in the deck. Duh.

    2. Does your tape have timecode breaks? If so, make sure that you are cued up to the part of the tape that you want to recapture from.

    3. Are you sure that you are actually using master clip’s settings, not accidentally performing a crash capture?

If any of these solve it, don’t feel bad… I often spend hours looking for my glasses when I’m actually wearing them. If they don’t, let me know when you figure it out… I’m curious.

    Ok,

    I see what happens now.

The tape captures until the outpoint. Then it rewinds the tape and starts capturing from the inpoint again.

When I click on the clip in the bin and go to batch capture The in and out points get set correctly.

One thing to note is that when I originally captured the tape I did not set an out point. The tape ends at about 53min of a 60 min tape.

    Any ideas?

Just wanted to say I fixed the problem.

I just recaptured the tape with the same timecode in and out points as the tape that was off line.

Then I replaced the old offline master with the new one using the same name.

I then relinked the master to all the sub clips and all is good again.

I will be sure to mark in and out points for now on when capturing media. (A tip from a user on the avid.com forums)

Thanks for taking the time to help!
