Since FCP 6, whenever a batch is finished, a dialog box come up that says
“ready to capture”, not that it’s finished. If I hit “continue” it wants to capture
all over again, and it deletes all the clips it just captured.
If I hit cancel, it keeps the clips it already did. This was not the way
the batch worked on any previous Final Cut versions.
It used to say it was done after a batch capture.

Is this a FCP 6 bug (I’m into 6.0.2 now and it still does this),
or is there a setting I don’t know about?

I found this the other day on a straight dv capture with FCP 5.1.4. It had been a while since capturing dv over firewire, but it happened.

Same thing as you, hit cancel and everything was captured.

    Don’t know why.

i’ve just had the same thing happen to me…but with an extra bit of weirdness thrown in !

Capturing digibeta to 10 bit uncompressed, i had to switch to ltc because whoever made the tape had managed to screw up the vitc. I logged two 30 second clips and hit batch. It started at the correct point but carried on playing through both clips to the end of the timecode and stopped. After hitting the cancel button, it tells me that one clip was captured and not both. Checking the clip – it is just showing the correct media. So why is it playing through the entire reel for a single shot, then doing the same for the next shot?

Indcidentally, i also had to load in stuff an hour earlier from an fcp project sent by a colleague overseas (also using the latest FCP version) and that batch capture worked perfectly!
