  • Batch capture in Premiere – some capture problems

    Hi,

I’ve got a working setup consisting of a Supermicro P4SCT-II, a sata Raid, with a Decklink Pro SD.

The system works quite well for over 10 months. Capturing and exporting is reliable expect that I have a problem when batch capturing from within Premiere Pro 1.5. Some of the captured clips have “blocks” in them, the kind of blocks you see when fast-forwarding a tape (Digital Betacam).

It’s nasty because it happens randomly, so if I batch capture 100 clips maybe 5 clips are going to be bad. That means that I then have to check everything closely.

Is that problem known or experienced by others as well ?

In case of, try a preroll of 10 second. Maybe it could arrange your issue.

We have two computer with a decklink extreme.

In one there is no need to do this (the 10 sec of preroll), but with the other yes because it could append sometime missmacth of frame/timecode while exporting or capturing vid

I had same kind of problem, here is link

This was in march some drivers ago, I haven’t had same kind of work since. I think that Premiere (or Decklink tape control inside Premiere)don’t get feedback from VTR that it haven’t syncronized yet. I think Oscar’s propotion to increase preroll time to ten seconds is good workaround.

Thanks to both of you, I’ll use the 10sec preroll workaround.
