Batch adding reel names to quicktime files?
Posted by Rodrigo Silvestri on August 20, 2010 at 7:20 pmIs there any tool that lets you add reel names in a batch? I need to export an EDL with reel names and don’t want to do it manually…
Thanks,
Rodrigo.—

August 20, 2010 at 7:34 pmIf you’re talking about just file names, rather than meta data or something else, I use a tiny program called Better File Rename … if I recall correctly, its fairly cheap, but not free. I’m sure there are similar free tools out there though.

August 20, 2010 at 8:06 pmIf you open FCP and import the qt’s, you can rename the reels in the browser. If you scroll to the reel column and change the first clip to the correct name, you can then highlight all the others you wish to change and right click. Right clicking will bring up a list of all your reel names of all the highlighted clips. Select the reel name you want and you get a box saying this changes the metadata and select OK.

Anyway, I found QTchange, a little app for batch modifying QT metadata, adding TC, etc.
