basic widescreen looping background
Hello all,
I’m looking to create a dvd that you insert into a player and it loops the same movie over and over. I don’t want any menus and it is to be in widescreen. I’ve used dvd studio pro before but this is the first time I’ve used encore so I’m a bit stuck as to how to do this. Also are there any issues with compatability on home dvd players I should know about, I want to make sure it works on a typical home dvd player.Thanks

Add your video to a new timeline (and it’s associated audio file if the source audio isn’t muxed or interleaved) and then set the timeline’s end action to link back to itself.
As for compatibility, the reports I have read and the anecdotal evidence I’ve seen indicate that Encore’s DVDs created on a PC will be more compatible than DVDSPs created on a Mac.
There is also a slight edge in compatibility for DVD-R single-layer discs than DVD+R. However, the reverse seems to be true for dual-layer discs. Currently, Encore only supports +R DL burning.

Amen, to the use of DVD-R which I find very compatible with DVD
players – old and new.================================================
Note to Jeff:I want you to know that I bought your book and it really helped me a lot.
I must admit though that it took me a awhile to digest some of the topics.
I wish though that you have a DVD version of the book, but anyway your
book was a big help. I use Avid Liquid 7.1 for editing and export the sequence
as mpeg which is superbly created by Liquid. In my latest project I exported
the entire timeline (about 112 minutes) to MPEG and imported same as asset
into Encore because I did not like the brief pause between sequences (or chapters)
when you play the DVD. I can creat the chapters within Encore anyway.
Any better suggestion?Thanks 🙂

To your question – what was causing the brief pause between “sequences”? If it was a pause between timelines, that is unavoidable. If it was a pause between chapters, that *may* be fixable. We need to know how you constructed the playback of your disc – chapters in separate timelines or chapters in a single timeline?

Thanks for the response. I had the sequences (or chapters like getting ready, ceremony, reception, bouquet toss, credits) in a single timeline except the intro video which I put as intro timeline. As the video progresses to the next chapter, there is a brief pause at the start of the next chapter. I was going to create a timeline for each chapters but I wasn’t sure if that is a better way to go specially when you create a chapter playlist. -
