I am new to the HVX and want to shoot video of my hands and some of my arms in front of a green screen holding markers and pens that I will later bring into After Effects to make it seem like I am writing on different boards. I will be using KNO Flo 4-Banks and Divas. The video will be used for a web video show. I’m thinking of shooting it in 720P.

    1. What frame rate would work well for this?
    2. Can anyone recommend some other basic settings I should consider using on the camera?

    Thanks!

Some say progressive keys a little better then interlaced for green screen work.
If you can test, try different shutter speeds. Think about motion blur.

I would shoot it 1080i_60i for the most rez. But another good choice would be 720p_60p with a shutter around 120.

Good even lighting on the screen and no spill on the subject matters a whole lot more for this kind of thing really, focus on that. Most HD settings will yield good results.

    Hi Chris,

    1. what do you mean by “Think about motion blur?”

    2. Should shooting at 720p even be considered if 1080i is an option? If so, why?

    Thanks.

If you have quick motion like a hand or arm dropping fast there will be motion blur – it’s difficult to key.
    TEST.
Some say progressive is easier to key then interlaced.
    TEST.
