When setting the capture scratch, should one set it to the same drive and folder as wave form and thumbnail in systems settings.
Excuse my ignorance but, what is wave form and thumb nail setting exactly?
Do all projects use the same render ect… files. Once set to desired location (capture scratch) should all other settings follow? So that you don’t have, say, two of evrything meaning (render, waveform, thumbnail, …. on your media drive.
These are basic FCP concepts I have not quite got a grip on. Starting a very impotant Documentary and want to make sure that my system runs as smooth as possible.

Choose your system drive for the waveform (which is the audiowaveform drawing if you use it) and the thumbnail cache (which is, well, thumbnails). The default setting is just fine and dandy.
Choose a different drive for your media. Media is media is media, no matter if it’s created via rendering or capturing, so most people put them all in the same place. Don’t put any of it on your system drive for best performance. Although for DV, you can get away with it in a pinch if you just need to grab a shot or two or render something and you’re out of room on your media drives.
