  • Basic question… CC filters

    Hi,

I have a real basic question that I was hoping someone can help me out with. The question is about the cc filter wheel. I am graduating from prosumer cameras to now professional cameras and I have never had to deal with these setting before.

Can someone please give me a simplified rundown on how to use these?

I know this probably sounds dumb but I don’t get the point. No matter what cc setting I am on if I white balance the setting changes. It seems like an extra step…. but I probably just don’t understand its use.

    Thanks for the help!

    hi jared

at first the only dumb question is the one not asked 😉

actually your question is why use optical color correction filters.
if the whitebalance circuit can compensate.

that’s not a strange question. well the first thing to say is that the colorcorrecton also have neutral density.often in different steps. when there is plenty of light you can use these to change the depth of field. next to that if there is a huge difference in colortempature. the whitebalance circuit can have a hard job and generate extra noise. think about it this way.
the sooner you get the system in balance the better it will perform.
the CC are the first step if these can balance the light falling on the CCD’s the camera can do the job at his best.
