Basic Question about camera light
Posted by Kurt on May 17, 2005 at 9:26 pmWhy does the camera project light? How can I set up a scene to just have an basic flat light without being project from anywhere in particular?
Thanks

If you have Advanced Render you can add a sky object to your scene and enable radiosity. If not create an array of low-level omni lights to fake the affect.

May 18, 2005 at 4:53 pmThe camera seems to project light from the auto light. In your render settings, turn off the auto light.

does auto light automatically come from the render view? or just from the editor camera only
so, in order to achieve a flat light or “lack of directional” light to my scenes, I must set up 4 omni lights from NWSE directions?
thanks fors the tips

May 18, 2005 at 9:18 pmUnder your your display menu at the top left of your viewport there is an option for ‘default light’ you can click on it and move it to an angle you prefer. This is active until you create a light in the scene at which time your new light takes over.
If you want a completely flat look with no shading (to give that vector kind of look like in AE) then don’t use the color channels in your materials, use the luminance channel. That way it will be all flat all the time. Then you can actually shut off all lights in the scene.
