Basic Page Peel question
Posted by Mark Palmos on January 28, 2008 at 11:29 amHello all,
The FCP page peel (turn) does not seem to work with text… not the basic static text generated by FCP or text generated by a motion project. It just cuts on. Double clicking the transition on the timeilne brings up the controls but adjusting them makes no difference.
Ive tried turning from a transparent slug to text but this does not work either.
Any luck anyone or is this some uber-crap legacy effect to be ignored?

you might want to check your transition settings, particularly the direction -

January 28, 2008 at 1:28 pmHi Walter and Andy,
Are you guys trying this with text on a transparent background over a second video track?
The page turn works fine with two pieces of video, but when I put the basic FCP text “SAMPLE TEXT” on a V2 above some other video clip on V1, and want to add a transition to page this text on and over the V1 track below, it just cuts on… no paramter changes in the Viewer make any difference.
If I park the CTI over the mid point in the transition and move the “direction”, the full “SAMPLE TEXT” is there all the time… no effect at all.
And with you?

January 28, 2008 at 2:08 pmWorks for me. Sounds like you haven’t applied the transition correctly. Check it’s duration and make sure it hasn’t been applied as one frame.
All the best,
Tom

January 28, 2008 at 2:26 pmmaybe its a PAL/NTSC thing?
I will try an NTSC project later.the duration is anywhere between 1 second and 2 seconds, there are not that many paramters to change and it works using the default parameters when page turning regular video clips, but not when using anything with an alpha channel.
Interstingly it works at the tail of a clip but not at the head. If I alt-drag the very same effect to the head of the same clip, it does not work, but works fine at the tail.

January 28, 2008 at 2:33 pmI missed that you were peeling it on. Clip the reverse arrow to bring it on.
All the best,
Tom
