Basic P2 Questions….
Hello, sorry if this is a little basic for the forum. I am planning a tv shoot using the P2, I have edited footage and imported footage before, but never imported to the mac directly from the card. I have a G4 powerbook 17″. Can I just plug the card directly into the mac and will it read the card like a hard drive? Then drag the clips to the macs hard drive then into fcp? Is there anything special I need or need to consider? Thanks so much.

If the computer has a PCMCIA slot, like your computer should, and you loaded the DRIVER for the P2 card it should work fine. Shoot some tests to be sure.
Here’s a tutorial on the workflow for P2 with a link to the driver..although I think that driver is old. And the interface is old (FCP 5.0.4), but the workflow is still the same.
I think the new drivers are located on Panasonics site.

You can edit straight from the mxf files using Raylight for the Mac.
Google it.
