  • Basic diagonal wipe effect question

Posted by Dan Riley on January 28, 2008 at 10:24 pm

I want to have one shot in the upper left, the other shot in the lower right
divided by a diagonal line with a border and maybe soft border. Could not be simpler. But I can’t find the tools inside FCP to do this.

    Please help.

Place one video track above the other

On the top video track: Video Filters > Matte

Use a 4 or 8 point garbage matte to mask off half the image in the correct position.

    That’s a good idea Walter.
I also just did what I should have done before posting, a google search.
Came up with an answer from this forum from 2002 🙂
It said try the wipe transition and setting it for 50% on each side. That worked too
but I can’t have a border, just the feather thing, which I can live with.

I’m still not conditioned to “google” before I ask anyone anything.
    Too old I guess.
