Just AE? Probably just some bad media. Find it and kill it then recreate it.
    Toss the prefs.
Run Disk Repair form your OS10 install disk, repair permissions.
But you must find what is causing the crashes or you just chase ghosts.

It all depends on if this is the same project crashing or every project using fdifferent footage.

If it’s the same project, then, yeah, probably some bad footage.

If it’s happening on many projects, then can you give some hints about exactly what’s happening. Hard to judge with so little info.
