Forgive such a question with a potentially very obvious answer. I’m a sound editor, who in search of making a better reel stumbled into the world of aftereffects.

I’m doing to 3D stuff with imported photshop layers and the cameras in AE. I’m very happy with my results, but baffled with an export issue. If I export with Animation codec, mpegA codec, photojpeg the output is fine. But if I attempt to export with a DV codec the resolution is not very good. I did verify the quality setting on export. Is there an obvious answer to this problem? Additionally if I import the exported animation/mpegA.photojpeg in FCP it suffers same problem. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

I think that DV codec is not very good but good enough for outputting to a DV tape.If you want to switch between programs,Animation codec can be the better choice.DV code can only be accepted when you at last wanted to output you video.

There are certain codecs that only look good in certain venues – meaning that until you are going to that venue, work with animation compression (Which is virtually lossless) or any other lossless compression.

An example of this is MPEG-2 – when I output MPEG-2 from AE, it looks terrible on my computer screen, but good on my DVD player.
