Is a 2012 Mac mini Quad-Core just as fast as a 2012 iMac Quad-Core when running Pro Apps?

If the Mac Mini 2012 had a NVIDIA 650M in it, I would have purchased one immediately. Without that (and since Thunderbolt doesn’t really allow for using a graphics card externally given its 4x PCI lanes), then it’s a no go for me.
Still eyeing the 2012 iMac though.

Coulda been the greatest “budget” system yet. It even retains the FW800 port!
alas, it is too ….discrete…. for me
