I just purchased the CalDigit S2VR HD box. Its pretty sweet. Last minute emergency order and they got it here next day. Excellent service.

Anyways, I’ve been buying up raw 500GB Seagate drives like crazy, intending to use them as my archive storage as I am all-P2 now. No tapes or VTR’s in site. I copy all my raw footage over to the bare drives using the Weibe Tech SATADock for backup until I can afford 100TB fiber storage solution or SOMETHING…

SO. Where do I physically store these bare drives now that I am amassing a “collection”?

Anyone know of a static free case, or shelf, or sleeve, or bag, or something?

And, I’ve heard rumblings that I should spin up the archived drives every so often. If I don’t, I heard bad things might happen in 5 years if I tried to fired them up. Confirm? Deny?

    Thanks.

CalDigit has these…they sell them with their Firewire VR and with any replacement or additional drives you get. Call them and ask if you can buy them from them.

Jon S. Tell him I referred ya.
