Very short runs of unbalanced should be OK, but if you are in the wrong location (strong RF field) you COULD have some problems.

Well, according to Sennheiser spec the output on that 1/8″ jack is balanced, so you should be fine, theoretically up to quite a long cable length.

I suspect it uses the same pinout as on its larger balanced jack cousins.

    Thanks for that Roland.

If the plug has two non-conductive bands, it very likely is balanced.

But the camera does not have 1/8″ balanced INPUTS.
It has XLR mic or line-level inputs.

And an 1/8″ STEREO (I assume this because it has a built-in stereo mic right next to this input) mic input on the handle.

If plugged into a stereo 1/8″ input, the balance signal will be ruined.

OP needs to build or buy a proper cable(s) to connect the mic to the camera.

    Sorry Thax.

I thought that was a “given.”
