Using R9, I’m trying to model a stationary smoke stack in an animated scene.

I’ve got a decent looking smoke stack using standard particles and pyro but I need to freeze it in 3D as the camera rotates around it.

Is this possible using ‘bake particles’ or ‘current state to object’ somehow. All my experiments have failed so far.

    Thank you for any help.

Maybe there is a plugin somewhere to do it (will Fizz stop particles? Not that I can remember). Otherwise, I think you would need to use Thinking Particles so you could set the speed of all particles to zero for as long as needed.

Thanks Brian. I do have thinking particles but discovered a plugin from Paul Everett that does just what I want.

I’ve not tried it with pyro yet.

Well I worked out a simple example just to do it. So here it is in case it’s useful to someone.

Paul Everetts.. Matrix Bullet time effect (a coffee script) works brilliantly even with pyrocluster.
