  • Bad quality in videos when importing to AE

I have filmed my videos with Panasonic DVX100 PAL version, using progressive thin mode. I captured videos with Premiere Pro 2.0 and videos looks good and normal in Premiere. But when I import them to AE 7.0 they are not sharp and they look really bad compared what they look in Premiere. Also the quality is way better when I export video from Premiere than exporting from AE with same settings.

    Examples:

    Shot from premiere: https://koti.tnnet.fi/hiost/p1.jpg

    Shot from AE: https://koti.tnnet.fi/hiost/ae1.jpg

I have tested all settings in AE’s composition settings page but the quality wont change.

Also what is the best way to do “miniDV -> DVD” if you use Premiere to capture videos (is it the best way to capture?) and AE to edit and making effects? So that the video dont have any encodes or other things that makes quality worse than the original.

    Thanks for your answers =)

Try right clicking the footage in the project window and choosing Interpret footage>main. Then set separate fields to off (AE mistakenly thinks your footage is interlaced).
    Hope this helps

In “Fields and Pulldowns” options, “seperate fields” was set to “Lower field First”. I changed it to “off” and now it looks more how it should look, thanks 🙂

Do you have answer for this:
