I may have done a very bad thing. I use FCP on a G4, I hooked up the firewire cable backwards on the computer and the other end was hooked correctly to a Sony DSR-11 DVCAM Deck. Everything seemed to be working fine on Sat. But now when I open FCP I get an error message that the apple firewire is missing. I tried buying a new firewire cable and a new firewire card but the error message remained. I took the DSR-11 to my firends place who has FCP also and hooked it up, correctly this time, and got the same error message. Did I really mess up my DSR-11 and/or the MAC?

How can you hook it up backwards? It has a distinct shape that doesn’t allow it to go in any other way.

I shoved it in, not paying attention. I could not see it and was in a hurry. I will not make that mistake again.

    Hi
I know someone else who did this (with a hard drive not a DSR-11). He killed everything in the chain, but not the Mac I think.
