Backing up the files
Hi!
I have an external hard drive with just a bit over 9TB of raw footage for a film, that I would like to backup to another external hard drive (even though there is another copy of it, but just to be safe).
I am wondering, whether it is safe, to copy, and also verify all of the files with TeraCopy in one go. Could the external hard drives get over-heated because of the extended time of reading/writing the files (and therefore endanger the files that are stored on them), or are the external hard drives designed in a way, that it is impossible for this to happen? I’m guessing that if the average copying speed will be 100 MB/s, it should take around 50 hours to copy and verify (18TB all together) everything in one go.
So, is it safe to do it in one go, or is it highly advisable to copy parts of it with pauses inbetween? If so, how much of the footage should I copy and verify in one go?
I hope I am posting this in the right category.
Best regards
