I want to know if there is a way i can get the settings i have from Sony Vegas 8 into Sony Vegas 9? Im using Windows Vista 64.
I have custom render output settings and Special FX settings that i want to backup too?

June 20, 2009 at 11:20 pmAll the custom render settings I had in Vegas 6 followed to Vegas 7 and again to Vegas 8 with no problem.
However, only 1/2 of them (or less) followed to Vegas 9 🙁
I opened a support ticket (aka bug report) with Sony and didn’t get nay satisfaction so I gave up on it.
I know I’m not alone as several other users have experienced the same problem.
One friend (a lot more computer savvy than I am) has opened a support ticket with Sony but I haven’t heard back from him yet.If your Special FX settings are part of a chain (i.e. more than one FX), you can use Preset Manager (it’s free) to move them from V8 to V9.

June 21, 2009 at 3:09 pmHi Mike,
Thanks for posting, I was going to contact Sony myself but thought I would ask here – in case I was over looking something.
If you hear back from Sony with a response I would really like to hear what they say. And im sure other people out there would too.
I will give that Preset Manager a go. But another reason I wish to backup all my settings is so when I upgrade my computer. I can copy over all the settings.
Im sure there must be settings hidden away in the windows User folder or something!!! As them settings must be saved somewhere?

June 21, 2009 at 11:18 pmChris, Sony’s response to my Custom Render preset question was to follow the step in the Knowledgebase article titled How Do I: Recreate your custom presets on Video FX and transitions.
After me telling them 3 times that it’s custom render presets and not video FX presets that I was having issues with and them telling me to follow this article, I gave up 🙁

July 1, 2009 at 4:22 pmHi Mike,
Im not to sure what copy of Window your running. But i found where all my presets are in Vista 🙂
I found they are in fact hidding away in this location
C:users*Chris*AppDataRoamingSonyFile Templates
Then in there are all your output render setting and also your templates for FX 🙂
Now all i need to do is work out how to get them into Vegas 9 hahaha
Im sure if you made a preset in 9 and tryed to trace that down. You could then just copy these presets over to where SV 9 puts them?

I’m using XP Pro and, until Vegas 8, they were in
C:Documents and SettingsMikeApplication DataSonyFile TemplatesWith the introduction of Vegas Po 9 though, they’re now in
C:Documents and SettingsMikeApplication DataSonyRender TemplatesNot only that but the extension has been changed from *.sft to *.sft2
I’ve tried copying and renaming them but it doesn’t work 🙁

December 23, 2009 at 10:04 pmAny solutions to backing up preferences since this was written several months ago? I have the same issue – about 30 rendering preferences from Vegas 8, none read in Vegas 9 after copying them to the rendering folder…
Thanks!

As a matter of interest, 9.0c made things even worse for me (even less custom presets than with 9.0b). -
