Backing up a project
Ok heres the deal, i didnt log anything correctly, I have videos files all over my Machintosh HD drive and my Media Raid drive. I have different files everywhere from test ones to the ones i acutally used in my project. I was wondering how I would go by backing up such a unorganized project, that is about a 30 min show that has clips from dozens of different tapes, p2 cards and stock footage. Its a complete mess, and the bad thing is my computer is bogged down because of it. I was going to back it off to a Terabyte, but locating each clip is going to be a mess.. Does Final Cut Pro have a easier way of doing this, or experienced editors do you have a easier way…

Use the Media Manager and the MOVE function. Laid out in the manual.
Easier way would be to be organized in the first place, but I know that doesn’t help here. Pardon me while I do a little self promotion and point out my GETTING ORGANIZED WITH FCP DVD, so that you avoid this on future projects:

ok, also somehow I ended up getting one of my sequences moved to another project. How do i get it back into my regular project with all of the added files?

where at in the manual is this? Im looking at the FCP 6 User Manual Volume IV: Media Management and Output. I dont see anything about that in Chapter 2.

Not in chapter 2…
CHAPTER IV page 88 – Move all media files to a single folder on your scratch diskStart there….go farther into that chapter and you’ll see what to do.
