    Hi!

I have been using after effects for a while mow and suddenly now i cant seem to get my compositions to be transparent. I turn on transparency in the composition window and it looks great, but when i render it forsome reason it has a background colour. Its probably just some stupid setting i have messed with, but its driving me crazy! Can anyone help me?

Where exactly are you viewing this when you see the color ??? If you are viewing in QT player, it is normal not to see transparency…Have you tried re-importing the video back into AE and checking that Alpha channel info is still there ??? Also, what is the color, and what is the color of your background in AE comps…this can be changed via the menus (composition). If you could provide a little more info, it would help. I am also thinking that premultiplied alpha is turned on with some weird color setting, but again, I would need more info.

    Hi!

Thanks for replying! I will try to explain better. I have keyed out some sky behind some trees. So in my composition window there is just the trees with a transparent background. So then i want to render the trees and insert them into another composition. when i do this i get the blue background in my composition and i cant see the layer thats under it. Hope that was better explained. Thanks alot!

Are you sure that you do not have any background layers active ??/

Also, what are you rendering to ??? Some codecs do not accept alpha channels…And of course you have to set RGB+Alpha in the render settings in the Render Queue.
