I am working on a short film with six layers: the background image and then five different layers of particle effects. Somehow I changed a setting–and I don’t know which–that caused four of the layers to be blocked by the background. When I turn the background off, all five particle layers are visible. When I turn the background on, only one is visible. Every setting in the “Properties” sections of the layers and individual emitters are the same as before. I don’t know what setting I changed. Does someone know how to fix this?

It sounds to me like you may have accidently moved your background image above most of your other layers. I’m playing around with my new computer so I created a short video of what I think is wrong. If that is not the problem, You need Alan !

I agree — you probably dragged a layer upward in the layers window (upper left window). Drag it down to the bottom or r-click and “move down” until it’s below everything.

Yes, you’re exactly right. I did as you suggested and the effects are back! I knew it had to be something simple. I just didn’t know what it was.
