I have just finished a job on fcp with a quad core Mac.
All the main rushes are on the internal hard drive, (digitized before i started) the rest of the rushes are
    in folders on the desktop)

I need to back everything up onto an external 2 terabyte drive so that in my absence they can access the project and adjust the cut if they need to.
Can anyone advise me in simple terms the best way to do this?

    Thankyou in advance.
    Dan.

Sure! Select everything in the Browser, then from the file menu, open the Media Manager.

    Set the settings like this:

Copy, Turn off “Delete unused media”, select the destination (the external drive), and also select the option to create a new project file. When the copy is over, the new project file will be already connected to the copies. Give them this new project file and drive and you’re done!

Thank you for your advice but what if the changes that are being made to the copy want to be applied to the backup? How do you copy your changes to keep the project updated.

You just update your project file.
