Step 4. What does he mean by mask animation? Precomping two layers, right, but what for and what next? The point is to make blurred-text-flares disappear after text stops rotating. I was able to achieve that look manual way, but not so well as he did, my flares just disappear, his fade out.

And any ideas how to make this text and blurred-text-flare interact so well, above just opacity adjustaction?

And even more, is it an additional letter-high light glow going on blurred-text-flares which can be seen at ‘mask animation’ qt or is it an effect of making this mask animation that I’ve asked in a first place?

I know Ayato was widely discussed and I’ve searched for posts, but no answers for that.

What he means there, is draw out a mask (by trial & error) and animate it–size, position, feather, etc–to what suites you best.

    Cheers!

Ok, I do understand that, but more like asking what is this mask supposed to do and where to apply it. Is it supposed to make text-flares disappear or highlight places where text will be or both etc. I’ve already completed this tut my way, but I’d also like to understand the very way he did it.

As you mentioned. He used the mask to make those text flares to disappear, otherwise they would have stayed there after the rotation completed. This masking tries to create the illusion where the text flare is only visible as the lens flare travels thru the screen and reflects on the surfacce of the letters… (huh, am I clear – or more English lessons would be neccessary?) 🙂

    my 2 cents
