After laying an image, clip or other object on the timeline, any 3D moves applied are anchored by the axis preset in the middle of the clip, how do you move the axis to a point other then the exact center???? Thanks.

Double click the clip in the timeline and load it into the Viewer

Access the Motion tab in the Viewer

Use the Anchor Point tool to enter new values

(Try the below example to get a quick idea of how this will work)

    Enter 180, 180

    Spin the rotation wheel

Your image should rotate around a new “offcentered” axis

    Hope it helps

    Best

Enter in some random numbers? Now that’s no way to adjust an Anchor Point! Boy do all three of ya need my book, “Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Pro”! 😉

Even the most hardened FCP vet will not know that in order to move the Anchor Point – you use (of all things) the Distort Tool to move it.

By default, the Anchor Point lies at 0,0. With the Distort Tool, click and drag it to a new place on the Canvas. You can even drag it offscreen.

    Ya see? 😀
