August 9, 2011 at 12:57 pmDoes anyone here know or think that AVID’s general move to a more open architecture will extend to SANs? There are some relatively inexpensive, flexible san configurations that currently won’t work with avid due to the way the media databases are set up. Having more flexibility in this area as well as the capture card area would be great.
Thanks

Look at Editshare & Facilis both work with Avid, and have for a long time. Also commandsoft Fibrejet as Avid friendly SAN admin.
As far a as having a Unity or ISIS management on a third party SAN. Maybe, but do not think soon. Remember Avid is a hardware & software manufacturer.
