Avid Xpress v4.6 compatibility with Leopard
I just upgraded to Leopard on my Mac G5 and now when I try to activate my Avid Xpress Pro v4.6 the program doesn’t respond. When I force quit the program the annotation reads, ” Avid Xpress Pro (unresponsive).” Do I need to upgrade my Avid software?

Yes. Xpress Pro will never run under Leopard. For $495 you can upgrade to Media Composer 3.0.1 (the purchase upgrade will say 3.0), which will also give you all the third party software, which includes:
Boris Continuum Complete Effects 5.0
AvidDVD (PC Only version)
AvidFX (Boris RED renamed)
Sorenson 5.0

Thank you Michael. You’ve been a fantastic help. I hope to convince the head of our department to make the upgrade. If not, I will have to use FCP which I also have installed. I have been an Avid user for 17 years and I would rather not make the change.
