We recently completed a two camera interview shoot using a pair of HVX-200’s recording to FS-100 drives with each camera recording continuously for about an hour. The firestore drives have a 2 GB FAT 32 limit and broke each take into about 30 2-minute chunks. I have brought them into Xpress Pro and laid all of A camera and all of B camera onto separate timelines and all of the pieces line up and play just as they should. My problem is I want to use Avid’s mulitcamera editing feature which requires that the clips to be edited be grouped together. After assembling the clips, I am left with A and B sequences, not clips, and it seems I cannot group sequences, only master clips. I have tried re-consolidating the sequence and making a submaster, but neither work. Does anyone know of a work around for this? My fall back plan is to output a movie and re-import it to see if I can make it into one clip, but with two hours of HD originals, plus two hours of output movie plus two hours of re-imported footage it’s going to take a lot of hard drive space. There must be a better way.
