Looking at buying Avid Xpress Pro w/Mojo SDI… putting in on my MAC PRO 2.66…
    2 questions?

1 – How do I get deck control to regular broadcast decks that use RS422? Do I need to purchase an extra cable from Avid?
2 – Could there be any possible conflict in the systems if I have Final Cut Pro installed on the same machine? Could I just stripe drives that Avid would use, and have other drives that FCP could use?

    Cheers,

Many people set their Mac up to be dual boot and run Avid on one boot partition and FCP on the other. You do not have to go to this extreme but it makes it easier to keep up with software updates for the OS and Pro Apps on the FCP side.

I have Final Cut Studio and Avid on my Macs. I use Avid as my primary edit tool so I didn’t create a dual boot set-up. I just have to be diligent about not updating my software before Avid is ready.

As for deck control, there is a Keyspan controller but you have to make sure you get the right version. If you do a search on the Avid forum, it was covered in great detail as to which one works correctly.
