    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could offer some advise on using Plural Eyes 3 with Avid MC6 and a Sony XDCam. I’m hanging on for the windows version of Plural Eyes 3, so this might be a bit academic at this stage, but I’m trying to figure out the best workflow.
Does anyone know if Plural Eyes 3 will accept the XDCam files straight from the camera? and if it will also accept the Avid DNxHD. The later would probably be most useful if it would accept an avid timeline.

When I’ve finished with a project I delete the media and keep the Avid file. Sometimes I have to remake the project by batch importing the missing files from the XDCam discs.

I’m trying to think of the best way to organise the workflow to ensure that it not only works in the easiest way whilst I’m making the project, but also when I have to rebuild it in months/years time.

Any thoughts or advise would be most welcome on this.

    thanks,

    Jonathan.

    Hey Jonathan,

Just a heads up, PluralEyes v3 does NOT support Avid yet *giant frowny face*.

If you purchase Pluraleyes from Red Giant, you get the v3 standalone application and copies of v2 for each editing system. I don’t know when they’re planning the release an MC version of PluralEyes. The site said they’re working on it.

So if you’re going to use v2, you place all your footage in a timeline, stacked. Then export an AAF file. You round-trip it through their software. It will give you an AAF that you can re-import. It’s very easy.

You could run a test and see if you can AAF AMA’d media into PluralEyes, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it has to be MXF’d first.

    Hope that helps!
