  • Avid won’t import 44.1k wav files: araw codec?

Posted by Chris Dukes on July 28, 2007 at 10:18 pm

I recorded the wav files with a Tascam HD-P2 at 44.1k but Avid doesn’t recognize the file type. It will recognize the wav files I recorded on the same machine at 48k. The problem is that the only thing I have that recognizes the 44.1k files is VLC otherwise I would just convert them with iTunes or FCP/Compressor. Any suggestions?

You can transcode the files within Avid. Right click on the file and follow the dialog box. Alternately, you can select the entire project as 44.1 (setting>audio project>44.1).

So if I change the project settings to 44.1k then import them, then export them as 48k, then change the settings back to 48k, I should be ok?
