Hi I’m creating a title sequence in after affects to bring into the Avid…when I export from after effects im using Animation – premultiplied qucktime movie. The render comes out beautiful when I play it in quicktime. Once I import it into AVID it doesn’t look quite as nice. I import the file – have it “show alpha” and then when I try and export it from Avid to see how it looks in quicktime there is a distinct difference between the two..The black background is not completely black like the initial render from AE and the quality is just sub-par. From avid i’m exporting as a quicktime movie Animation 100% quality. Is there something I’m doing wrong?

quick description of the Titles: Grey titles that blur in and then blur out basically with a transparent background.

    Hi,

You should render with a STRAIGHT alpha out of AE. It will look terrible in quicktime, but it will work properly in the Avid composite. The problem is that Avid always assumes it is getting a straight alpha and so it multiplies the foreground pixel by the alpha pixel. This causes a dark ring around blurred elements.

    I hope this helps.
