Avid to Vegas – one more time
I realize this discussion has been raised before and there have been suggestions, hypotheses, and advice offered, but none of the answers that I have received have worked in the real world.
I’m not going to get into a conversation about changing our workflow, equipment, etc. – it is what it is. I work for the government and it is not going to change anytime soon. (I realize there are Black Magic / AJA cards out there that could help.)
Our setup is an Avid Adrenaline Media Composer system (running the current version of MC – 2.5.3). We have DVCPro HD decks that come in SDI, HDV decks that come in firewire, Beta decks that come in via component, etc. All of this footage is ingested through the Adrenaline (unless it is DV/HDV in which case I use Vegas to import).
Are there any viable solutions for either:
1) capturing the footage via the Adrenaline and then dragging into a Vegas timeline?
2) creating a sequence in MC and exporting for use in Vegas via AAF, EDL, etc.?I have tried every available option for Avid AAF export and while I can get the audio to show up in the Vegas timeline there are always errors with the video. One workaround is to export a QT reference file from Avid and drag that into the Vegas timeline but I really don’t like using that method.
Finally – are there any viable methods for getting a Vegas timeline (with edit points on it) into a MC sequence?
Thanks in advance for your help. If I can’t figure a half-decent way to get these two programs to talk to each other I unfortunately will have to rely solely on Media Composer by default.
Sorry, there were no replies found.
