I need to move several finished sequences, about 2 minutes each, to Edius for a news broadcast. The sequences are SD 16:9. Any suggestions on the most graceful way to accomplish this?

I was using Sorenson to make .mpg files, but Edius doesn’t like the audio from these files for some reason. Additionally, Edius won’t import any QT or AVI files I export from the Avid. It seems like all I’ve had success with are .mxf files which have been run through an Anystream transcoder and look compressed. Any help is appreciated. I had posted a question in the Sorenson forum, but there’s no activity there.

If they are finished sequences, you can export a QT with the animation codec and Edius will import em fine. If you are moving the projects and will carry on with editing, a CMX3600 edl will work fine. Just ensure you have no more than 4 audio tracks (export a seperate edl for these tracks if you do, you’ve used no non smpte effects, and that your reel names are 5 characters or less.

Personally i like the Output to XDcam.
(mount an empty XDcam structure in the root of a disk).
Nice small HQ codec, perfect for news broadcast and Edius likes the files well.

And to continue editing, Edius is FCP XML compatible, so Automatic Duck should do the trick as well.
