  • Avid, Timecode Issues for Multicam Comedy Special

I will be editing a multi-cam 2 1/2 hr. comedy special in HD (1920x1080i)on an Avid Media Composer (Adrenaline). The issue I am trying to resolve is that Management is wanting to cut cost and have only one Switched Master with Timecode. Each ISO camera (X4) will be recorded to its own hard drive as a DVC Pro 50 codec. Each file will be approximately 1TB in size.
Is there any way to match the timecode from the Switched Master with ISO Quicktimes? It is crucial I have matching timecode for all tapes.

    Thanks

v3.5 of Media Composer supports timecode from QT import if that helps.

Matching timecode is not crucial because you can set up your groups
using inpoints. So you just you a visual or audio cue to get the same inpoint for all your cameras and group from there.
I use to do this all the time when I was an assistant, grouping
3 or 4 camera shoots for a reality show. They never had matching timecode.
