I’m debating a purchase of a new symphony nitris. I’ve been working with Avid Adrenalines and Smoke. This purchase is on the table because of the growing volume of HD content i recieve. I guess i’m looking for a solution to edit and conform HD content along with SD content. Does anyone have any pro or cons of using the Symphony Nitris, or just any opinions about it. Anyones help would be appreciated, thanks.

Symphony Nitris is a GREAT system, that’s INSANELY overpriced! It should be half the price it is now. (Okay, maybe a little more than half, but you get the idea.) Since you’ve worked with Adrenaline, moving up to Symphony will be very similar, only with more RT performance, better conform options, more powerful color-correction, etc. Symphony Nitris is a bit behind the powercurve of the Media Composer/XPro products, since it doesn’t support some features currently available in those products (Studio Toolkit is one that comes to mind), though that which lacks in SN is being remedied as we speak.

I’d take it for a test-drive and see what you think. If you like it, can afford/justify the $90K price-tag (which my Avid Reseller quoted me more around $78K, so you might not pay that much), and feel it would be a good addition to your business, then heck yeah: buy one!
