I have an avid adrenaline, HP 8200xp workstation. I’ve had to replace two storage drives since
april, in the process losing alot of data and time. My drives are avid 146gb ultra320/LVD SCSI stackable units, with eight striped into two volumes. Is anyone else having these issues?? Should I ask avid to replace the whole set with a more reliable system while it’s still under warranty?
    thanks for your help.

I haven’t heard of any problems with a “class” of Avid drives. Are you on a UPS for your setup?

Thanks for your reply. I do have the drives, computer and monitors on a UPS. I received the replacement drive today (thanks Avid!). I’m just tired of going through this stuff. Do you reccomend leaving the drives “on” all the time? I switch everything off when I go home. is this a bad idea? I’ve heard from different
people different schools of thought about powering down SCSI drives. If I leave them on all the time,
my room tends to get pretty warm. I do have an air conditioning unit (fairly rare in Alaska) installed but
it’s kind of loud. Thanks again and I hope I have better luck with the new drive.
