    Hey,

I am trying to import a .psd file of a gradient rectangle (used as a title bar) into AVID. When imported it comes into AVID as a Matte Key and i can crop it all fine but instaed of being transparent at one end (as it is in photoshop) it comes into avid as a white background so once i crop it one end is white instead of transparent. Can you guys please help me!!!???

When you have selected Import, Choose Options, and then under the Alpha section, choose Invert Existing.

you may also wanna try saving png files from photoshop.
You can keep PS drop shadows, bevels ect that way.

If you made a black to white gradient in photoshop it will import as a black to white gradient in Avid–if you created a solid to transparent in Photoshop do as Grinner said–save it as a .png on a transparent background–the transparency in photoshop will be saved as your Alpha channel. Import it “Invert Existing Alpha” into Avid just like the others have suggested.

If you just have a black to white gradient you want to use as a matte then import it with “Ignore existing Alpha” checked and apply a matte key effect to it, or a luma key. This will use the black and white and shades of grey as data for your transparency, giving you the result I believe you so desire.

    Mike.
