Avid monthly subscription doesn’t work with 6.5.4.2
Hi Guys,
I have been using Avid 6.5.4 in trip mode on a project for about a month.
I then purchased online the monthly option of MC 6.5.4.2 (because I was told the .2 patch would allow me to use the software with a monthly subscription where 6.5.4 would not.But after a frustrating morning on the phone to Avid, who were v good actually.
We still couldn’t get it running. It was stuck on a loop on the registration page bit.He suggested downloading version 7.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any help would be great as I am on a deadline :-/

Here is the skinny on using older versions.
Mac Media Composer 6.5.4.2 and Symphony 6.5.4.2 can recognize a Media Composer 8.0 and Symphony Option Activation ID, respectively.
Windows Media Composer 6.5.4.2, Symphony 6.5.4.2, and NewsCutter 10.5.4.2 can recognize a Media Composer 8.0, Symphony Option, or NewsCutter Option license if the latest version of Avid License Control is installed.
he chart in the article link below explains what earlier versions of Media Composer, Symphony and NewsCutter can run with a new Media Composer 7.0, Symphony Option, and NewsCutter 11.0 license (dongle or software).

Just to clarify
There is no v6.5 or v7.x for Subscription or Floating license. They were introduced with v8.x
You would need to stay with the perpetual model or upgrade to 8 and then go Subscription or Floating.
