I coulda swore I read about this just a day or two ago, but I can’t find the thread anywhere…

I’m running FCS2 at home, Avid Meridien at work. I’d like to be able to bring movies home for reference, create new elements, and then take them back to work.

The problem is, I can’t get the Avid Meridien codecs to work with quicktime here at home. I did find mention on an Apple forum that the Meridien codecs were possibly not mac-intel compatible… has anyone had any luck getting these codecs to work?

    I’m running a MacPro 8-core, FCS 2, QT 7.2.0

One proposed solution is to set Quicktime to run in Rosetta mode… not sure how to do that yet, but I’d prefer to know if FCS will have any issues with it before I try it…

Install the latest version of Avid Codecs available here.

This package supports the long discontinued Meridien hardware as well as current systems. It also supports both PowerPC and Intel Macs.

    No need for Rosetta.

I’m awful sure that’s the version I tried yesterday with the same lack of success as my previous attempts, but I could be wrong… I’ll redownload and try it again when I get home.

    Thanks!

Try this instead. The Avid site has this stuff poorly labeled.

    These is definitely Intel compatible.

You’re not kidding… the last 3 times I checked I found the same codecs that didn’t work (even though they were listed as MacIntel compatible), but the installer you linked worked like a charm.

    Thanks much!

I know this thread is three years old, but I ran into the same problem today and found this link, which helped:
