    Nitris MC 3.0. XW8400, XPPro SP2, 2.5TB Avid VideoRAID, ATTO UL4D

This system has been up and running fine for several years. Today I experienced errors while importing CD audio into a project. The error states that the drive I am importing to is missing. When I exit the Avid and check Disk Management, the drives are physically there but show as failed. They do not show in Windows Eplorer.

I have green lights on the front and back of the RAID for all drives and both controllers. Plenty of room on all drives including the system drive. Trashed and rebuilt the databases. Largest media folder only has 2200 items in it…others have far less.

When I shut down, power cycle and restart everything, the system runs CHKDSK on all volumes and deletes 2 – 3 files on the import drive that start with “creating”. The system continues to boot and all drives are back and showing healthy in Disk Management.

I go back to import again, same thing happens but at a different point in the import.

Any ideas I can try to restore stability? I feel a bad thing coming on…

    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

Same sounding thing has happened to me a number of times, but on Medea Drives. As soon as it happened we start getting our media files to another drive asap. We always seem to lose the file structure, we format the media drive and start again. It would happen once or twice a year depending on use…Good Luck Sorry
Ps. Try moving a large file at windows level to the drive see if it happens or write media to your c drive as a test
