  • Avid Media Composer – show clip head and tail in the timeline

    Hi all,
I’m currently trying to switch to Avid and I bumped into something I can’t find which was very useful in Premiere.

How to actually show head and tail of all clips in timeline, (to show if the clip on the timeline is in it’s entirety or just as a small bit)? In Premiere it is set by default and it looks like that:

The first clip is only a bit of footage. The second one has ‘handles’ – to show that it’s the whole clip.
Is it possible to have this kind of view in Avid?

    All help is much appreciated!
    Monika

    Hi Massimo,
No, unfortunately that’s not what I’m looking for. What I meant were the handles in the upper corners of the clip. They show that it’s the whole clip and you can’t extend it further.
    Thanks,
    Monika

There is no such view in the timeline that is exactly that. In 8.4/8.5 there was some additional info added to trim operations that give you an indication of remaining frames on a clip.

I guess I just have to get used to Avid being different and work some other ways to get around it. But thanks anyway for your help!
