avid media composer for mac
Just foud a version of Avid that i would like to buy. It doesn’t specify PC or MAC. Is it a factor these days or is the avid download center that takes care of it?

Both Mac and PC versions will appear in the download center. You can actually download and use both on different computers (not at the same time) if you wish.
