Does anyone have a clue why Mac Media Composer 5 doesn’t “see” TruType fonts that other apps (Photoshop) do? I’ve resolved any identified issues with the fonts to no avail.

    Thanks.

Try video card driver update or if you recently did that try going back to a previous update version.

    Which fonts aren’t coming up?

I remember noticing (a few years ago but it might still be pertinent) that I had programs that displayed more fonts than others, but what was happening was that in the programmes that showed more fonts were displaying all the variations, e.g., bold and italic, as separate fonts, whereas the ones with fewer fonts (and Avid is among those ones) showed only the main titles and you got the extra versions by clicking the B, i, etc, buttons, so there wasn’t the difference that it looked like at first glance. I don’t know if that still happens (and I’m not at the right computer to check right now) but it might be worth bearing in mind.

I came across something similar to this last week working on a PC based Avid Media Composer V5.03 (I think)

I needed to recreate some title media and the Avid reported the font, which in my case was Futura, was not available.

The edit assistant was pretty sure Futura was loaded and sure enough when I opened the Windows font folder it was there.
    Other Apps could see it.

So I did a search for folders called “font” and found that within the Avid Programme was an additional font folder. It contained a few fonts.
I cant remember the exact location but a search will find it.

Anyway as a last resort I copied Futura into that folder and sure enough it showed up in Avid after a restart.

I have not come across this before but in this instance it worked.

    best wishes
