I know this has been the topic of many threads all over the internet, but I am in desperate need of help.

I know that Avid has yet to “bless” Leopard, but I have heard that it can still run on Leopard with a few “work-arounds.” Is this true? and if so, what are these work-arounds? I have heard of people running Avid on Leopard and I want in.

I just bought a new Mac Pro pre-installed with Leopard, which is the only way to buy from Apple. I tried to install Media Composer 2.7.2 with no luck. I am currently downloading 2.7.8 with the hope that it will install properly.

Bottom line: Is is possible to run Avid on Leopard?

    Thanks.

I heard a while back that you can still purchase Tiger online and use it until the new release from Avid come. I did a search and found this:

    Good luck.

Yes, Avid Media Composer 2.8 runs great on Leopard. GeniusDV has posted a work-around for running Avid Media Composer on Leapord I tried this myself and it actually works.

Also, the article mentions about NOT downloading the latest version of QuickTime. I accidentally ignored that part, and the software still seems to work.

FYI: With the newer Macs it is not possible to downgrade them to run 10.4 (Tiger). The only work-around to be to downgrade the firmware, of which you’ll need to contact Apple Support for that.

Has anyone else tried this with success? Does it work with Adrenaline DNxHD Box?

    Hey John,

I read that article you posted and there was a disturbing notice at the top saying that after the article was written, something happened where you could not install Avid Media Composer 2.8.3 onto Leopard. You would have to download 2.8.1 to get it to work. What does that mean?

Can’t I just have 2.8.3 running on my machine and upgrade the OS without worry? Do I have to reinstall Media Composer?
