You mean like FCP 1.0. This was one of the coolest features in 1999! Tabbed views and customizable workspaces.

I’m looking forward to the 3D stuff. I just turned down a gig because I don’t feel comfortable in that space. Now, I can play.

I’ve edited a few 3D shows in FCP7 with the Dashwood plugin, which is also available for FCPX now. If the footage is well shot and the stereographer has done his job, then post in 3D is not particularly difficult.

It’s when it’s badly shot that the fun begins.

[Oliver Peters] “I’m not sure if there’s any sort of upgrade/crossgrade for Symphony.”

Yeah, I’ve got a question into Avid asking about that. Hopefully Marianne will get back to us shortly.

Will MC work with a Kona3? I’ve had a quick look but so far did see any confirmation of that

The implication of the Avid webinar this morning seemed to implicate that all or the common AJA, BM, and Matrox I/O device were now fair game.

BTW, did anyone else watch the webinar? It was actually pretty lame, in the sense that the hostess who lead it was quite noticeably reading from a teleprompter, and doing a very poor job in doing so. I was actually feeling a bit embarrassed for her and for Avid. Did anyone else share my experience?

defiantely felt the same way. Also thought having the execs on there was kinda awkward. They looked like prompter readers as well.

Either way, looks like a great update. Not saying its an end all be all of NLE’s now but it seems like they get it that people want familiarlarity in a program theyve come to grow and love, and that things dont need to change so drastically going into the next generation.

Yeah, gotta say I was feeling the same way. For a company that specializes in media production, you’d think they could have hired proper talent. Kinda weird. Not to mention that the video was shy on the details I wanted and wasn’t particularly persuasive from a marketing standpoint. Oh well. Still looking forward to giving MC6 a run.
