I’m trying to import avi file, I even tried mp3 and it didn’t let me.. the avid write me “the file format is not supported for import” . and how do I import? I do right click in the bin and import

Can the system see the AVI files? Open in QT? If not, they might have a codec that the system can’t read. And if it can’t, Avid can’t.
